September 19, 2008- Many teams from Premier 3v3 Academy traveled down to Augusta, GA the weekend of August 9th and 10th for the Kick-It 3v3 Southern Regional Championships.

Chelsea-99 (girls)

The Chelsea followed-up a 1st and a 2nd place finish at two local Kick-It 3v3 tournaments with the Regional Championship! Saturday brought three hard fought games for the Chelsea with the team finishing the day with two wins and a tie and 1st place in their pool of four teams. Their hard work on Saturday paid off with a quarterfinal bye into the semi-finals on Sunday. The girls played well in the semis and shut out a team from Tennessee 2-0. The final pitted them against a team from Florida. They came out and seized control right away and took a 3-0 lead into halftime. The 2nd half they continued their dominance and the game ended with a 5-1 victory! It was a great way to culminate a summer 3v3 schedule of three tournaments with only one loss! Way to go Chelsea and good luck at the National Championships at Disney in January 2009!

Manchester-01 (girls)

The Manchester once again had to play up one year at the Regional Championship since there were no teams in their age group. The five team division required a tough four games on Saturday against the older teams. The Manchester did well by going 1-1-2 to finish in 3rd place in the pool and qualifying for the semi-finals on Sunday. The girls gave it their all on Sunday, but lost two very competitive games. At the end of the day, the Manchester gained valuable game-time experience against some of the best teams in the Region in the older age division. The Manchester will also travel to the National Championships at Disney which will allow them to see how they match up with teams of their age from across the country.

Chelsea-02 (girls)

The Chelsea had a difficult draw for the Regional Championships as there was only one other girls ’02 team entered. The youngsters took the challenge head on and played three boys ’02 teams along with one girls ’02 team on Saturday. The Chelsea was overmatched by the boys during the games but pulled out a 4-4 tie against a good girls team. That set-up the final on Sunday against the same team. They worked hard and played a gutsy game, but ended up on the short end, 2-0. Taking home the 2nd place plaque was a high point of the weekend, along with spending a beautiful weekend with teammates and families!
