97 CUFC Lyon G

CUFC Hellenic Girls have done it again! The CUFC 97 Lyon Girls brings home another trophy this past weekend, March 28th-29th. The team finished first in their bracket at the Piggly Wiggly Shootout in Charleston, hosted by the Mt. Pleasant Soccer Club. On Saturday the girls played two impressive games. The first was against CGSA Shockers from Georgia, which ended in a 4-2 victory. The second game, Lyon shut out a South Carolina team, CESA Pool, with a 4-0 win. Sunday, the girls came up against our sister team, CUFC Hellenic Juventis, where Lyon again was victorious with a 6-0 win. Coach Jo and the girls moved on to the extremely exciting final. Lyon versus a hosting Mt. Pleasant team, Liverpool, played to a 3-3 tie. The teams them moved on to two mandatory 5 minute over times where, thanks to strong defense and aggressive offense, the score remained unchanged, leading us to a shoot out. Pressure on, the Lyon girls delivered a victory when their sixth PK shooter converted and Mt. Pleasants did not. A huge THANKS to Coaches Jo, Vance and Sean for all of their support!!  GO LYON!!!!
